Fans Closer to Action: NFL Films-Produced Wired Sound and Mic’d up Moments

As preparations for the 2023 National Football League (NFL) season gather pace, all 32 teams will engage with their fans through a variety of on-field practices and interactive events during their Training Camp. The NFL Network and the streaming service NFL+ will provide exhaustive coverage of these events.

A novel initiative this year sees the Training Camp commence with a two-day celebration on Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30, dubbed “Back Together Weekend”. This event, presented by YouTube, will offer fans an immersive experience, whether they choose to attend in person or watch from the comfort of their homes.

On July 29, starting at 9:00 AM ET, the NFL Network will provide a 12-hour live broadcast with contributions from over 50 on-air talents from across the league. The network’s coverage will continue until Wednesday, August 9, airing eight hours of live coverage each day beginning at 10:00 AM ET.

The following day, July 30, NFL+ will provide exclusive first looks from around the league from 9:00 AM ET till 2:00 PM ET. NFL Total Access will conclude the day’s coverage from 6:00 PM ET to 8:00 PM ET.

Both the NFL Network and NFL+ will feature NFL Films-produced wired sound and mic’d up moments of players and coaches from the day’s events. This novel approach promises to bring fans and viewers closer to the action, enhancing the understanding of the games’ tactical and strategic aspects.

Peter O’Reilly, NFL Executive Vice President, Club Business, League Events and International, emphasized that the expansion of Back Together Weekend to a two-day celebration highlights the game’s growth and the fans’ passion.

In addition to NFL Network and NFL+ coverage, ESPN will also contribute five hours of television coverage for Back Together Weekend. The day’s broadcasting will begin with a three-hour live edition of NFL Live at 9:00 AM ET on ESPN, followed by a two-hour edition at 1:00 PM ET on ABC.

Significantly, the 2023 edition of Back Together Weekend is sponsored by YouTube, marking the first such collaboration. YouTube recently acquired the exclusive rights for NFL Sunday Ticket, which provides fans access to all live out-of-market games on Sunday afternoon throughout the regular season.

Furthermore, teams are poised to host a variety of fan events and family-friendly activations as part of the Back Together Weekend. Highlights include player appearances, live entertainment, and giveaways. Special events will feature flag football and spotlight minority-owned businesses, offering an opportunity to engage with the local community.

The Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, for instance, will host local youth flag teams for various activities. Similarly, the Tennessee Titans will feature the official Titans NFL Female Flag League on site. Emphasizing community inclusion, the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts will offer local minority-owned food truck services, while the Detroit Lions will introduce a new merchandise collection in partnership with Three Thirteen – Detroit’s Brand Name, a local minority-owned clothing store.

As the start of the 2023 NFL season approaches, fans can check team websites and social media for additional information about these events and activations. For those looking to secure tickets for the upcoming season, they are available for purchase at NFL.com/tickets.
