According to the HPD, On Saturday, July 15, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a shooting incident transpired at an after-hours business located at 8724 Fulton Street, Houston. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Derick M. Cole Santiago, has been arrested in relation to this case. It is crucial to note that these are allegations at this point and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by law.

Santiago faces three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as filed in the 176th State District Court. A booking photograph has been attached to this press release for reference.

Upon responding to the shooting call, HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detectives J. Windham and C. Brown found two males, aged 33 and 31, and one 26-year-old female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to area hospitals by Houston Fire Department paramedics and are currently in stable conditions.

The initial investigation indicates that an altercation at the location escalated to the point of a shooting incident. A security guard from the business managed to detain Santiago until police arrived.

Nonetheless, we are pleased to report that all the involved victims have been safely accounted for. We are glad that they are now safe and can learn from this experience to prevent similar issues in the future.
